R K Anand Held Guilty

The Delhi High Court on Thursday held senior advocates RK Anand and IU Khan guilty of colluding with Sanjeev Nanda, the prime accused in BMW hit and run case, for persuading a witness Sunil Kulkarni to change his testimony.

The court found them guilty after a sting operation by a TV news channel alleging a collusion between the prosecution and the defence in the high-profile BMW hit-and-run case.

Both the lawyers have been barred from practising law for four months.

The expose caught defence lawyer RK Anand swaying the witness, Kulkarni, to change his testimony to save Sanjeev Nanda in collusion with public prosecutor IU Khan.

The court had taken suo motu cognisance of the sting operation, which showed Anand allegedly offering money to eyewitness Kulkarni to depose in favour of Nanda, grandson of retired Naval chief admiral SM Nanda, allegedly ran over six persons with his black BMW in 1999.

The Delhi High Court, earlier, issued show cause notices to RK Anand and IU Khan, charging them with contempt of court.

However, both Anand and Khan defended themselves alleging conspiracy against them.
